Cultural programs, events, exhibits, concerts, classes and performances are available across the spectrum of the arts. Local arts councils are very active in their support of programs that meet the diverse tastes of the I-79 Development Corridor's art, music, and theater patrons.
The I-79 Corridor boasts numerous theatre and performing arts groups such as The West Virginia Public Theatre, The Act Two Theatre Company, The Town and Gown Players, The Monongalia Art Center, The Fairmont Community Symphony and The Kitchen Sink Dance Company all offering opportunities for both amateur and professional actors, musicians and dancers. Cultural and community festivals abound including: the WV Italian Heritage Festival; the Scottish Festival and Celtic Gathering; Benedum Festival; Black Heritage Festival; 4th Annual Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Festival, Stonewall Jackson Heritage Arts & Crafts Festival, the Wine and Jazz Festival, Greek Food Festival; and the Salem Apple Butter Festival. The I-79 Corridor also proudly hosts several national sporting events including the National Mining Association Pete Dye Golf Classic (Nationwide Tour event), the Greater Clarksburg 10K Run, West Virginia University Division I-A Intercollegiate Sports, the Mountaineer Triathlon, and the Mountaineer Roundup and World Championship Rodeo.
