West Virginia University (WVU) located in Morgantown, WV has an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. Fairmont State University located in Fairmont, WV has an enrollment of approximately 7,000 and includes Fairmont State Community and Technical College. Salem International University is located between Clarksburg, WV and Parkersburg, WV in Salem, WV has an enrollment of approximately 700 students. West Virginia University
West Virginia University's proud tradition of academic excellence attracts some of the region's best high school seniors. WVU is one of 151 institutions nationally that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching classifies as Doctoral/Research University-Extensive. Twenty-five WVU students have received Rhodes Scholarships for study at Oxford; few public universities have produced more Rhodes Scholars than WVU. Fairmont State offers degrees in 63 undergraduate programs and 8 graduate programs including Business, Nursing, Criminal Justice, Computer Science and Security, Design, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering Technology, Forensic Science and Intelligence Research and Analysis. With FSCTC offering associate and certificate degrees in 34 fields including Mechanical, Electronics and Design Engineering Technology, Information Services, Homeland Security and Criminal Justice, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology, and Aviation Technology.

Salem University is a private institution of higher learning and is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the West Virginia State Board of Education.

The mission of Salem University is to prepare global citizens with broad knowledge, marketable professional skills and the ability to make decisions with integrity and international perspective. Salem offers 35 majors to its students with degrees in applied computer science (BS), Business Administration (AS, BS, MBA) and Criminal Justice (BA).
